Corrections Division

The Corrections Division is under the Command of Major Lester Carr.

Roster of Corrections Personnel

The Corrections Division is the largest unit in the Sheriffs Office.

The staff of 97 full and part-time employees is responsible for operating the Wayne County Correctional Facility, maintaining the safety and security of the inmates, providing food, clothing, and medical and mental health care.

Educational services and treatment programs encourage prisoners to change their behavior and attitudes to a more productive, meaningful lifestyle.

Group Sessions make up part of the inmates life while in the facility.

Inmates of school age are required to participate in GED classes and are encouraged to complete their high school education.

The Wayne County Correctional Facility has a modern treatment center for sick or injured inmates.  Under supervision of the jail physicians, the Nurse Practitioner supervises three registered nurses.

Correctional Officers are also responsible for transporting prisoners to and from court, doctor’s appointments and other places.

There are specific Rules for visiting Inmates Confined to the Wayne County Jail.  If you have more specific questions, please call 315-946-5714.
