Constituents, Colleagues and Collaborators:

Please be advised I have retired after 44 years of service to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the past 12 years as the county’s Sheriff. Thank you all for your support, collaboration and partnership throughout my years at the Sheriff’s Office and for your continued commitment to public safety, law enforcement and the criminal justice system. It has truly been a privilege and honor for me to serve as a member of the Sheriff’s Office during the many positions I held throughout my tenure. My best wishes to each and every one of you now and in the future as I start the next chapter in my life.

Statistical Information: In November 41 males and 7 females (48 total) were committed to the jail facility, 67 transports, 5,165 inmate meals were served and $27,540.08 was collected from 6 inmates released on bail and fines. Inmates worked a total of 1,248 hours of labor in laundry, facility cleaning and food service. The Jail Facility boarded in 10 inmates from Cayuga County (1), Ontario County (1), Seneca County (8) Sheriff’s Offices and secured 18 parole violators. Court Security Officers cleared 1,630 people entering the Hall of Justice through the magnetometer, securing 29 weapons and 21 other contraband items similar to TSA airport security (firearms, ammunition, knives, scissors, cell phones, glass bottles, umbrellas, helmets, hand tools, etc.). Deputies traveled 100,468 miles on patrol, investigating 142 motor vehicle collisions in which 6 people were injured, 104 crash investigations, 3 missing persons, 22 animal complaints, 847 miscellaneous complaints, 5 major crimes, 297 minor crimes, 9 fire investigations, 454 all other complaints totaling 1,741 for the month. Deputies issued 132 traffic tickets, 3 DWIs and made 109 violation, misdemeanor and felony arrests, and 11 mental health arrests. The Civil Office processed 82 legal papers and 93 Family Court orders, handled 5 evictions, received $133,551.08 and paid out $132,753.72 to creditors. $12,862.91 was remitted to County Treasurer‘s Office for the County’s General Fund. 

STOP-DWI Report: Wayne County Law Enforcement charged 8 people with DWI in the month of November, Sheriff’s Office 3 and New York State Police 5. Please drink responsibly!

Schools and Training: Sergeant Joseph Hendler attended the Taser Instructor Certification Course in Schenectady.

Sheriff’s APP: Search Wayne County NY Sheriff to download the mobile app onto your smartphone or tablet. It is available free of charge from the iTunes and Google Play (Android) app stores. The new app will help Wayne County citizens stay tuned to important information from the Sheriff’s Office.  After downloading the app onto your smartphone, you can receive alerts, news, and resources.
